Polaroid Day Glasses - Where the sun oughtn't shine.

The Forties were a great era for ads. Wordy, super-square illustrations, and meticulous grammar. It's not always immediately clear what they're selling, though. Today, the P. A. G! Graphic Blandishment and Photoshoppery Brigade let their confusion lead them down a rather jokey path. Please enjoy.

Strange. Polaroid is advertising for sunglasses that are not widely available, only in "some stores".

Yes. It was due to public supply shortages for the war effort. Presumably, American Optical was supplying the military with sunglasses, so the public market had to do without. It's strange to think of that happening, but there was a lot of this at the time.

Thanks for reading, Ypek!
