Orange?... Maybe! - But I think you'd be pretty happy shaping the body out of a blank & then loading it up with your favorite hardware & pick-ups. Something about bringing your own "creation" to life, that makes it uniquely & satisfyingly(?) yours. I hope you post it when you're done! I built a couple of Eddie Van Halen "Frankenstein" clones a while back & thoroughly enjoyed the process and also gained a good understanding of how & why he gets that "tone" he talks about...I also don't think I ever knew anyone that DIDN'T have a problem with the flake gumming up the sprayer, it's the nature of that particular beast. Good Luck with your future P.A.G. "axe" endeavors! I'll be watching for them. : )

THORDARK UNIVERSE STUDIOShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13470371013612123976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4438559177675541367.post-32391028857703836922017-09-05T13:48:21.090-05:002017-09-05T13:48:21.090-05:00Hey, very nice of you Thor. It was almost a comple...Hey, very nice of you Thor. It was almost a complete disaster, so considering that, I'm thrilled with how it turned out. As with any project I undertake, there are ALWAYS flaws and mistakes that will bug the hell out of me forever, but this is normal.

Ads far as the tone goes... everyone I've asked (who's not trying to sell me a guitar) seems to think that the body part of a solid-body guitar/bass is just a block of stuff that holds the bits together, and any effect the material has on the sound of the instrument is in your mind... unless it's made of balsa wood, or ham, or something. Th bass player in my band used it for about an hour at our last band practice, and he said is produces a hot signal. By that, he means that you don't need to turn the gain up very high to get it loud. Other than that, it's pretty ordinary.

If I do another one, I may try buying a body blank and just shaping the thing myself from a raw block, instead of modifying an existing bass. Also, it will be orange, I think. Not sure if I'll try flake again. That shit was a massive pain.

I've always been a fan of Chris Squire's green swirl bass. Maybe I'll make an orange version of it? http://images.en.yibada.com/data/images/full/40297/yes-co-founder-chris-squire.jpgPhilAreGo@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05719815455502184849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4438559177675541367.post-50527340383664841792017-08-31T19:26:52.493-05:002017-08-31T19:26:52.493-05:00Phil - Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me...Phil - Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. Beautiful work. Your attention to detail probably made that guitar the worth the $1500 they were asking for the Bongo. I'm curious as to what it sounds like. I'm sure the added paint, flake & clearcoats added to it's tone, not to mention the metal pickguard. I think you should post more of your "creations" here. I for one would appreciate seeing some of your recent work(s).

Regards, THOR

P.S.- I still listen to your CDs.... :)DARK UNIVERSE STUDIOShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13470371013612123976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4438559177675541367.post-37098487279249371272017-08-31T09:26:34.626-05:002017-08-31T09:26:34.626-05:00Dang. You know, it's always the curse of the weirdo to lead a life in which what YOU think looks good typically falls outside bounds of what normal people think. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised with the positive feedback on the result of this project.PhilAreGo@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05719815455502184849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4438559177675541367.post-41632608590995062952017-08-31T08:50:56.429-05:002017-08-31T08:50:56.429-05:00Love the leather pick guard!
